How I Will Support My Students’ Efforts to Participate and Persevere

How will I Speak with and Interact with My Students?

Firstly is being mindful of how I communicate. Students can sometimes be anxious, and they will likely respond positively to a personal style that is kind, firm, and consistent. As a teacher, I will first do when interacting with students to ensure that I am clear, directive, and calm. Another strategy is creating a game plan with them. I will ensure that I work with the students to build a plan to use that best suits them and use it from time to time to evaluate its effectiveness and make adjustments whenever necessary. An example of the plan could be a specific cue to use to communicate that the plan will be implemented (International OCD Foundation, 2021). Accordingly, I will encourage my students to tell me if they are struggling. I will achieve this by using measures such as developing constant scheduled check-in and agreeing on the method by which they can contact me.

How will I Make Sure Students Know What they are Expected to Do?

I will use precise language. I will ensure this by using concrete terms and complete, short, and precise sentences. I will also precisely articulate the expectations of the assignment. Another strategy is repeating directions. A teacher may give direction to students, but they are not paying attention. I will always ensure that I take a swift look around the class give some redirection, and assignment directions on the relevant platform such as the board. Accordingly, I will explain the aim of the task. By explaining to the students why they are required to finish their assignment, they will be more able to appreciate their experience (Barile, 2020). This I can achieve by connecting the assignment to existing student knowledge, covered materials, or already learned lessons. I will also ensure that my students comprehend. After giving students directions, I will go on to ask them to rephrase what they are expected to do.

What Types of Activities Will I Emphasize in Teaching?

One type of activity that I will emphasize in teaching is debate. Participating in interactive argumentation increases students’ conceptual comprehension. Another activity will be an interview. The class members can take part in characters such as historical figures. Roleplay will ensure that students are organized to address the content ahead of them. Accordingly, I will emphasize interactive demonstrations. I will use this type of activity to show the application of a skill or concept. I will also emphasize the entry/exit tickets activity. This activity is a short question that provides swift student diagnostic instructions. Ticket entry/exit will ensure students’ participation and enable them to be keen on vital concepts. Consequently, I will emphasize free writing. Questions of the day exercise make students write a response to an open question. The aim of this activity is to help them arrange their own thoughts.

How will I Engage Students Actively When I am Providing Instruction?

I will make the activity meaningful. Students are supposed to perceive the Instruction as being meaningful by showing the value of the question in meaningful ways. I will also foster a sense of competence. To ensure this, I will make the assigned activity slightly beyond their level of proficiency, make them show their comprehension throughout an activity, and demonstrate peer mastery modes. Accordingly, I will offer autonomy support by acknowledging every student’s ideas, giving them the time they require to comprehend an activity on their own and using non-controlling language with them. I will encourage collaborative learning. While giving them the question, I will ensure that they work with others because their participation will be increased.

How Will I Monitor and Help Students When they are Doing Independent Work?

I will show them models of behaviour. I will tell them to imitate my behaviour, for example, how categorizing data can make it simple to recall. I will create communication that includes language focused on learning. By doing this, they will be more aware of the levels involved in learning; they will be able to comprehend their own individual leaving methods and assist them in sharing their thinking. I will offer them options and encourage them to develop their own learning goals. This is to ensure that my students can reflect on their own actions and take ownership of their learning. In turn, they will feel empowered and in control of their individual learning. I will also offer them written and oral feedback on an assignment. Here, I will give grades for the level of their efforts to ensure the students’ confidence in working independently gets improved.

How Will I Use My Personal Charisma to Influence Behavior?

I will use my personal charisma to ensure that I like being around my students. By enjoying the company of my students, I will be able to attract and keep them around me. They will, in turn, want to be around me; there will be a good rapport between my students and me. I can use my personal charisma to make sure the students comprehend the lessons. My charisma will enable me to explore and learn more teaching strategies, which will assist me in coming up with creative techniques to apply to the students. Students will find me attractive and charismatic, which will help them understand their subject. Consequently, I can use my personal charisma to make the students more passionate about the subject. My personal charisma can help me master the subject, and while teaching, the student can enjoy my company and lessons.

How Will I Use My Body Language to Influence Behavior?

I will ensure I maintain eye contact with my students. Eye contact is among the most recommended way that teachers connect with their students and keep them focused. I will hold my gaze with one student for around 20 seconds before changing to another. Accordingly, I will be expressive. I can inspire the students to be more involved with the lesson by being expressive and using gestures. I will always keep my arms open because an open body angle shows an invitation. By using this body language, I will invade brainstorming and new ideas from the students and draw their attention to me. Lastly, I will ensure a smile because students want to be connected with tutors who are present with them. A simple smile will send a message to my students that I am passionate about learning; this further helps them connect with me.

How Will I Influence Students to do High-Quality Work?

I will stress quality over quantity to my students; accordingly, I will stress learning over performance. As a teacher, I will enhance and maintain a positive learning environment. I will give precise expectations and a rubric outline before giving an assignment. Students who do quality work in class will be rewarded and recognized with a quality club. I will ensure students participate in individual goal setting aimed at learning outcomes instead of performance outcomes. This will be ensured by constantly revisiting goals and having them monitor their progress toward their goals. Also, the students can participate in creating a class-wide quality assurance system/ coordinating guidelines. Furthermore, classwork and assignments that entail higher-level thinking skills such as evaluating, developing, and analyzing can be selected.
